VIN and equipment lookups

A road VIN is sent to our server and the NHTSA public API to return specifications. Successful API results may be cached. Equipment PIN guidance is processed in your browser. Comparisons stay in memory on the current page and disappear when you reload.

Sharing a result deliberately includes its VIN in the shared URL. Do not share a VIN you want to keep private. Copy and print operate in your browser.

Google Analytics preferences

Google Analytics 4 is on by default. It uses cookies and technical usage information to measure page visits, broad source/device information, time spent in sections, tool outcomes, and the displayed product categories you view or click. Our event parameters contain categories such as success or partial results, rather than VINs, PINs or free-form input. Google Analytics receives the canonical page path and the referrer’s site origin only. Query strings, fragments and arbitrary campaign text are excluded. Google Analytics advertising storage and personalization are disabled.

Your saved preference will appear here.

Turning this off stops our Google Analytics collection and removes available Analytics cookies. The preference is saved locally for this browser. Browser or network privacy controls may also block collection.

Cloudflare serves this website and provides separate aggregate performance analytics. The switch above controls Google Analytics; it does not control Cloudflare hosting or its performance analytics.

Display advertising

Public pages display an Adsterra banner when an advertisement is available. Adsterra and its advertising partners may receive your IP address, browser/device information and the referring site, and may use cookies or similar technologies to deliver and measure ads. The banner runs in a separate frame; our integration does not pass VIN inputs or lookup results to it. The Google Analytics switch above does not control Adsterra. Browser content-blocking settings can block these ads. See Adsterra’s privacy policy for its data practices.

Amazon product links

Some pages contain paid links to Amazon.com. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. Clicking a product link opens Amazon, which handles purchases and may use cookies under its own privacy policy. Our Analytics records a fixed product category and placement, not your VIN, equipment PIN or Amazon order details. You can use every lookup without clicking or buying anything.
